The general objective of this study was to analyze the dynamics of the biotechnology sector in Brazil with a focus on companies. From this study Biominas Brasil expanded its analysis to the life sciences sector, a more inclusive concept that allows for a more complete view of the development of the areas related to the “bio” industry in Brazil.
This research compiles information regarding the area of activities, spatial location, economic scope (size in terms of revenues and jobs), and length of operation of the biotechnology companies, performing an analysis of the main difficulties faced regarding access to technology, insertion into the business environment, legal procedures and financing.
